HYPE Abstinence Education
The HYPE (Helping Youth Prevent Engaging In Risky Behavior) Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program is an after school intervention that serves youth in grades 5th-8th at after school program locations using an evidence based curriculum. This curriculum helps teens identify their goals and consider how having sex might prevent them from achieving those goals, and enhances teens ability to confidently communicate their desire to remain abstinent. This curriculum includes a 20 hour service learning component geared toward helping youth learn the benefit of giving back to their community. The geographic service area is located in Harris County targeting youth living in the following areas: Northwest, South Central, Northeast, and Southwest Houston.
