On Sunday, February 14, 2021, the State of Texas was blanketed by bitterly cold weather in an unprecedented winter storm event. According to information published on abc13.com, Texans endured 44 hours of freezing cold, which resulted in more than $18 Billion dollars in damages and caused 69 deaths. As a result of the storm, there was an extraordinary need for basic supplies, such as food and water. Change Happens sought out to assist the community in meeting the need and quickly organized a Water Distribution Event. The event held on Thursday, March 4, 2021, distributed 542 cases and 558 gallons of water to more than 700 community members.
The event was made possible thanks to these generous donors: CenterPoint Energy, Molina Healthcare, and The Office of Commissioner Rodney Ellis. Change Happens is grateful to be in a position to support the community and know that together, we will emerge stronger than ever.
